This is a joint release between the Australian Federal Police and Services Australia.
A 34-year-old Melbourne man accused of fraudulently accessing Commonwealth welfare payments and other Federal Government grants appeared before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court yesterday (30 November 2020) on 6 fraud-related offences.
In early September, the joint Department of Human Services (the department) and Australian Federal Police (AFP) Taskforce Integrity spent time at the department’s service centres in Elizabeth and Salisbury, as well as the Elizabeth shopping centre.
News of Taskforce Integrity’s presence in Ipswich last week spread like wildfire, prompting the public to provide the taskforce with information they had about suspected welfare fraud.
