We’re getting ready to start balancing Family Tax Benefit (FTB) for families.
We’ll start balancing FTB for 2021-22 from July. We balance FTB every year to make sure we paid families the right amount.

Services Australia is about to start balancing Family Tax Benefit (FTB) and Child Care Subsidy (CCS) for around 2.2 million families.
Many families across the country have had their Child Care Subsidy payments balanced for the first time. For some families, they will have received an overpayment. Department of Human Services General Manager Hank Jongen provides details to help families understand what getting a Child Care Subsidy overpayment means.
If you get Child Care Subsidy, the Department of Human Services needs to balance your subsidy after the end of the financial year, to check you received the right amount.
What is balancing
If you get Family Tax Benefit fortnightly, the amount you’re paid during the year is based on your family income estimate.
