The top 6 things you can do online with Centrelink

Do you want to skip the queue and do your Centrelink business faster? Here are 6 things you can do online:

  1. Check your eligibility

If you’re not sure if you can get help to study, use our Payment and Service Finder to see what payments and services might be right for you.

  1. Claim a payment

We know you don’t mind waiting for your favourite movie to load, but lodging your claim – you’ll want that done quickly. If you’ve already set up your Centrelink online account, it’s quick and easy to claim Youth Allowance or Austudy online. You can claim up to 13 weeks before you start your course or Australian Apprenticeship.

  1. Track your payments

Log on to your Centrelink online account through myGov or the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app to check when you’ll get your next payment. You can also see how much you’ll get.

  1. Report your income

If you’re working while you study, you need to tell us how much you earn so we pay you the right amount. This is easy to do in your Centrelink online account through myGov or the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app. You can report your income while you wait for your friend to meet you for coffee.

Use the employment diary in myGov or the timesheet in the Express Plus Centrelink Mobile app to record your fortnightly earnings.

Make sure you report on time so your payment isn’t late.

  1. Update your details

You don’t need to tell us if you start buying your coffee from a new café that’s opened up near you, but we do need to know if your circumstances change. It’s easy to update your details in your Centrelink account through myGov.

Update us online if:

  • you change address
  • you’re leaving the country to study or travel, even temporarily
  • you get a job, or
  • you change courses, study load or finish studying
  1. Ask us questions

To stay up to date, follow us on social media. We post information about payments and services, and share tips and news. You can also ask us questions there – just remember to keep your details private.
