Medicare services moving in Toowoomba

The Department of Human Services has announced changes to its services in Toowoomba.

The Medicare Service Centre at Grand Central Shopping Centre will move in with the existing Toowoomba Service Centre on Bell Street from Monday 25 May.

Department of Human Services General Manager Hank Jongen said all staff and Medicare services currently offered at Grand Central will relocate to the Toowoomba Service Centre at 12 Bell Street, which is the department’s one-stop shop in Toowoomba.

“Toowoomba residents will continue to be able to access face-to-face Medicare services at the Toowoomba Service Centre but, increasingly, people prefer to claim their Medicare rebate directly from the doctor’s surgery,” Mr Jongen said.

“I encourage people to check whether their doctor offers Medicare rebates over the counter.

“If they don’t, you can still make a claim for common rebate items online, through myGov, the department’s Express Plus mobile apps or at the Toowoomba Service Centre.”

The Toowoomba Service Centre at 12 Bell Street is open Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
