Government services on the move

Medicare services currently available at the Pacific Fair Shopping Centre will be relocating to the Robina Service Centre from Monday, 29 June.

Department of Human Services General Manager Hank Jongen said local residents will benefit from access to Centrelink and Medicare services in one convenient location.

“All staff and services operating from the Pacific Fair Shopping Centre will relocate to the Robina Service Centre located at the Robina Town Centre,” Mr Jongen said.

“The number of people visiting the Pacific Fair Service Centre has fallen significantly since alternative claiming options were introduced.

“Since November 2012 foot traffic at the Pacific Fair Service Centre has decreased by almost 70%.

“The vast majority of people now claim their rebates electronically at the doctor’s surgery so they no longer need to make a separate trip into Medicare.”

Mr Jongen said the Robina Service Centre will also be refurbished, so the local community can benefit from a new fit out with additional self-service facilities.

“Our staff can show local residents how to sign up to myGov so they can access online services to complete their Centrelink and Medicare business from a single online portal.

“Medicare staff will be available at the Robina Service Centre to continue to provide face-to-face services to people who require assistance.”

The Robina Service Centre is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, on Level 5 of the Robina Town Centre, 29-33 Robina Town Centre Drive.
