From Monday 27 July, Warriewood residents have access to more digital government services following the relocation of the Warriewood Medicare Service Centre within the Warriewood Square shopping centre.
Department of Human Services General Manager Hank Jongen said staff and services moved to Shop 43 near Woolworths, from the previous location at Shop 20 close to the carpark entrance.
“Customers will notice a significant facelift and improved facilities following the refurbishment of the service centre,” Mr Jongen said.
“The new open plan layout creates a more modern atmosphere, and with the addition of seven self-service terminals, there is an increased focus on the range of hands-on digital service options.
“This means more customers are now able to do their routine business online without having to wait in line.”
Mr Jongen encouraged residents to register for myGov and the department’s range of Express Plus mobile apps.
“Staff can help local residents register for a myGov account and show them how to access a wide range of government services, including their Medicare, Centrelink, Child Support and Australian Taxation Office information using one login and password,” Mr Jongen said.
“Using the department’s range of self-service options, including online services and mobile apps, gives people the ability to complete their business 24/7 at a time or place that suits them.
“Accessing self-service options also saves customers a trip into the service centre by allowing them to claim Medicare benefits, update their details, request a duplicate card, and even view their Medicare Safety Net balance, through the department’s digital channels.
“Local residents may also be surprised to know that the best way to claim a Medicare benefit is directly at the doctor’s surgery, and nationally, more than 95% of all Medicare claims are now lodged at the point of service.
“However, staff at the service centre will continue to be available to provide face-to-face services to people who require more personalised support.”
Warriewood Service Centre is located at Shop 43, Warriewood Square, 12 Jacksons Road and is open Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm.
