Changes to Medicare services in Subiaco

From Monday 3 September 2018, all staff from the Department of Human Services Medicare Service Centre at Subiaco Village will relocate to the Innaloo One-Stop Shop on Hasler Road, Osborne Park.

Department of Human Services General Manager Hank Jongen said the full range of Centrelink and Medicare face-to-face services will be available at the Innaloo One-Stop Shop.

“The move reflects significant changes in the way customers are doing business with the department,” Mr Jongen said.

“The number of people coming into Subiaco Village for Medicare services has reduced by almost 73 per cent over the last six years.

“More people are now choosing to claim common Medicare items online through myGov and the Express Plus apps, avoiding the trip to a service centre,” Mr Jongen said.

Nationally, almost 99 per cent of all Medicare claims are lodged at the point of service.

“This clearly shows that claiming directly at the doctor’s surgery is the best way to claim a Medicare rebate,” Mr Jongen said.

“Providing services to the community is a high priority and the relocation will mean more staff will be available at the Innaloo One-Stop Shop to provide face-to-face services to people who require more intensive or personalised support.

“The last day of trade for Subiaco Service Centre will be Friday 31 August 2018.”

The Innaloo One-Stop Shop at 40 Hasler Road, Osborne Park is open Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
