Changes to Centrelink services in Roma

The Department of Human Services is replacing the Roma Centrelink Service Centre with an approved Agent service from Monday 5 November 2018.

Centrelink services in Roma will be delivered from the Department of Transport and Main Roads Customer Service Centre on Gregory Street.

Department of Human Services General Manager Hank Jongen said the transition to an Agent provides a more sustainable service offer for Roma into the future.

“Demand for face-to-face services at the Roma Service Centre is very low as customers are increasingly choosing digital channels to connect with the department,” Mr Jongen said.

“The move to an Agent will not disadvantage local customers, as all current services will be available through other channels, including phone, online, mobile and paper forms, with the support of our new Agent.

“The new service will also be open for slightly longer each week, given the Service Centre needs to close over the lunch break.

“The Department of Transport and Main Roads was selected as the Agent in Roma following a comprehensive assessment and careful consideration.

“There are more than 350 Agents across Australia offering Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support services to Australians living in rural and remote communities.

“The department provides ongoing support to Agents to ensure the local community continues to get positive outcomes.

“The last day of trade for the Roma Service Centre will be Friday 2 November 2018.”

Centrelink services will be available at the Department of Transport and Main Roads Customer Service Centre, at 56-58 Gregory Street, from 8:30am to 4pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 9:30am to 4pm on Wednesday.
