After extensive flood damage, the Services Australia Lismore Service Centre has been refurbished and is now open for business.
Services Australia National Manager for North West NSW Simon Noble, said reopening the Lismore Service Centre was an important step in the recovery process for the local community, customers and staff.
“We’ve fast tracked the repair and refurbishment of the damaged Lismore Service Centre with a contemporary design that aims to make things simple and helpful for our customers,” Mr Noble said.
Services Australia played a key role in supporting the community after the floods, with staff entering impacted areas to support communities and link people to federal disaster payments.
“Our dedicated floods coordinator in Lismore worked around the clock with councils and the local community to ensure we were doing everything we could to serve residents’ needs and connect people to support,” Mr Noble said.
“Major priorities in the early days were setting up a temporary service centre at Goonellabah and mobilising our Mobile Service Centre to Lismore to support the local community during this difficult time.
“The newly refurbished service centre isn’t just a cosmetic update – the significant change is we’ve made it easier for customers to interact with staff.
“Lismore residents will have a seamless experience when they visit us for help.
“People can continue to book appointments if they’d like certainty around the time they can speak with a staff member face-to-face or over the phone. We’re also offering digital coaching appointments for people who need extra assistance to use Service Australia’s digital services.
“Importantly, the Lismore team is interested in hearing customers’ feedback about the new service experience available at the centre.”
The National Disability Insurance Agency will also be offering face-to-face services from the new‑look service centre, making it easier for the community to access essential government services.
The temporary service centre located at the Goonellabah Community Centre has now closed.
The Lismore Service Centre at 47 Conway Street is open Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
